Tamagotchi Infrared Connection

In 2004, they relaunched the toys with new infrared technology, allowing two Tamagotchi toys to communicate, letting them play games, exchange gifts, and even marry and produce children. The relaunch has proven to be successful, spawning an entire franchise of Tamagotchi-related media. Infrared connection was introduced with the Plus/Connection, but the Japanese Chou Jinsei Enjoy Tamagotchi was the first model to interact with a computer. Since then, many subsequent models have also been able to interact with the E-Tamago or Tamatown websites by using alphanumeric codes generated by the toy to log into the website's Flash game.

What is infrared connection

The Tamagotchi Connection (known as Tamagotchi Connexion in Europe and Tamagotchi Plus in Japan) was the first in a line of updated devices that featured an infrared port that allowed two units to communicate so that the characters could interact with one another. The V1 can be identified by a lack of any sort of antenna, however it is physically indistiguishable from the V2 aside from shell coloration.
The Japanese Tamagotchi Plus was virtually identical to the English-language Connection/Connexion, so its shells are also featured on this page (denoted with a ).

im planning to get a tamagotchi p (if i can find one in good condition) and id like for it to be in english. i know theres tons of tutorials online explaining it but just for the sake of convenience id prefer if it was in english. ive figured out most of it but im not sure what i need for the infrared transfer. my main concern is that i have a mac and im not sure what would be compatible with it. id prefer to go with the usb dongle method as opposed to the phone or old laptop method because its way cheaper (from what ive seen). i know there are some premade devices with downloads but im not totally sure how they work. if anyone has suggestions for mac compatible tools that would be great! thanks so much ଘ(*ˊᵕˋ*)* ̀ˋ

Hi. I have owned this pink tamagotchi P’s for around 2-3 years. I am a 13 year old male, and while personally I do not mind the color much I’m sure it would not go over well in public places, especially in the area where I live. I’m not sure if this is against the rules, and if it is I will remove this post, but I was wondering if anyone was interested in “trading” my tamagotchi for one of a blue or green color. I will also accept other kinds of colored tamagotchis (as in the screen, not the shell). As long as it’s within reason monetarily wise. I might be able to meet up if you live somewhere in the central Virginia area, or am willing to mail it to you. (I would hope this community is nice enough to partake in their part of the deal, for I am new here and have only recently discovered the site.) Thanks! (I cannot post pictures because the file size is too large, but if I find a workaround, I will edit the post with pictures, or message them to you if you are interested.) Bye!

      Hi,
Recently I bought a preowned Royal pierce from Japan you want and I can't get it to unlink from the previous owner and link to mine.
My Ps came with the Dream Coffret pierce and I had trouble linking that one too but once I married off my adult tama and had a baby I was able too, I figured that since that one now worked so would my Royal pierce but it was still unable to link it and I ended up resetting my tamagotchi but my Royal pierce still isn't working, I haven't tried my Dream one yet though.
I know accidents happen but I feel that since I bought it from JYW it should be functional I didn't buy it from somebody on ebay yk? I don't think my tama pierce port itself is damaged because my Dream pierce works? I blew on both so I don't think it's dust either.
I'm wondering if I can only connect certain pierces during certain stages, like am I only able to connect my Royal pierce when I have a teen? Or is it just broken?
Sorry this is so long, thank you in advance!

Hi, I'm fairly new to Tamagotchi, and I just got my first P's. I've been trying to install the VDAs onto the P's using a USB to IrDA dongle on my computer. I'm following the steps, setting up the connection on the P's, going to downloads, facing it at the infrared while keeping the device an inch away and level... and it gets to the Connecting screen and freezes. It's done this several times and I've had to pop open the back of the Tamagotchi to get it to work again. My computer downloaded the necessary drives for Windows 8 64bit (the device is a SigmaTel USB-IrDA), Device Manager says the dongle is working, so the problem doesn't seem to be on that end. I honestly don't know what else I can do. Is the problem on the P's, the IrDA, or the computer? At this rate, I don't know if it would be wise to consider purchasing an IrDA phone if there is something wrong with the P's.
IDK if it's relevant, but the P's was purchased used and already has an english patch applied to it. I've not had any issue linking it to the pierce that came with it, and it seems to be running perfectly. I doubt that makes a difference, but I really cannot figure this out.
So is there any advice on what to do, something I missed, something different to try, any other suggestions? I haven't a clue what I'm doing with this thing, but the picture guide I found seemed straight forward enough, just can't figure out why it's freezing, or if that's a known issue.

I recently bought an old Nokia 3310 to patch my Tamagotchi Ps into english, but the phone is saying I need a SIM card? Do I need to go out and purchase a SIM card in order to use this phone and patch my tama? Or is there a way around this?
